On March 30 of 2004 the Somogyi Library made accessible on the Internet the Index to the Vasváry Collection and some Kossuth materials from the Vasváry Collection. The digitalization of the documents of the Vasváry Collection has been and will be continued. At the end of 2004, all of the materials of Kossuth loose-leaf volumes were digitalized.
This year some other materials were also digitalized concerning Mihály Kováts, a hero of the American Revolution against England, and persons who participated in the American Civil War: Alexander Asbóth, George Pomutz, Joseph Pulitzer, Julius Stahel Számwald and Charles Zágonyi. Edmund Vasváry's most important research fields were the above mentioned topics. He wrote one book and had plans for others. The one that was published in a book form, in Washington, DC in 1939, was titled: Lincoln's Hungarian Heroes. After these extensive parts were completed, the Somogyi Library has started the digitalization, in alphabetical order, of the further materials of loose-leaf volumes. |
